I came, I saw …. and they scarpered !
Bees taking flight after finding somewhere to live. They are making a literal bee-line for somewhere else.
The amazing thing is that all the bees know where they’re going. Scouting bees have been busy looking for a suitable home and now they have returned time and again to impress on the others that they must move to a particular destination. The queen is informed. Oh, just how they do this , we would surely like to know. The queen is enthused and prepared for flight. This will possibly be for the last time in her life, particularly if she is an older and fertile queen.
In order for the bees to be successful on their journey they have to keep in contact with the queen. 8000 bees approximately here. Not one bee bumps into another and most – though not all- manage to follow the queen.
I pray that she and her consorts find a place that will not lead her to be destroyed. Perhaps a hollow tree 20 metres up away from the madding crowd.
